The Apprentice – You’re Hired!

Chauffeur Car Hire Northampton, Chauffeur Car Hire Milton Keynes, Executive Car Hire Northampton and Executive Car Hire Milton Keynes. XEC-UK “Room to Move, on the Move”.

I watched the first episode of the new series of The Apprentice last night. I’d rather have been out working but we didn’t have much on. The show is a great concept and has been syndicated in other countries due to its popularity.

For those of you that haven’t seen it, there are 12 young high flying entrepreneurs and executives competing to be Sir Alan Sugar’s apprentice. Each week Sir Alan splits them into two groups and sets them a task. Each group selects a Project Leader and sets about beating the other group. One person from the losing group is fired each week until the last person standing gets the job.

As a contestant you need to keep your head down in the early stages. I know from watching previous series that you make yourself a target if you’re too outspoken in the early rounds. For this reason you generally find that the contestants are reluctant to take on the role of Project Leader in the early rounds.

I’m particularly interested in the cars they use when out and about on their tasks. They’re nice cars; I think they’re a Chrysler but would like to know the exact make and model if anyone knows. They look like a good executive car with a high spec and would be ideal for my business. I also wonder who provides the cars and the drivers. I assume it’s a blue chip London based company, I wonder if they’ve got any vacancies

So, while the would-be apprentices get fired one by one each week, I’d love to get hired.

F1 is back – Great!

XEC-UK, Chauffeur Services Northampton, Chauffeur Services Milton Keynes, Airport Taxi Northampton and Airport Taxi Milton Keynes. “Room to Move, on the Move”.

The new F1 Season got off to a good start last weekend with a win for our Lewis. It’s great to have it back even if it had become a bit processional over recent years. I think this season will be better. Although Lewis looks to be strong and is quickest again in Malaysia, there are a number of other drivers and teams that are well placed to challenge.

You may not know this but the home of the British Grand Prix, Silverstone, is in Northamptonshire. I’m kept very busy over the four days that the tour is in town. Many local businesses entertain their clients at the Grand Prix so I’m busy driving between the circuit and neighbouring towns. I’m pleased to say the traffic flow has improved over the years. Race day is still a bit hairy bur under the circumstances things move reasonably well.

Did you know that Silverstone was not the only major race track in Northamptonshire? The keener race goers among you will know that Rockingham and, for the dragsters, Santa Pod are also both located in Northamptonshire.

London Heathrow Terminal 5

Heathrow Airports new Terminal was officially opened today (Friday 14 March) by the Queen providing much needed extra passenger capacity at Europe’s busiest Airport. The £4.5bn project has not been without its controversy particular concern being raised by environmental groups. BAA has always claimed that there will be no increase in the number of flights. I’ve seen the new building up close during my frequent trips to the airport through my Northampton chauffeur cars and Milton Keynes chauffeur cars business.

The building is quite stunning and is a state of the art facility bringing Heathrow right up to date. Once operational, attention will turn to Terminal 1 which is in much need of modernisation.
Some interesting facts relating to Terminal 5:

Construction began: September 2002
60,000 people have worked a total of 100 million man hours to build
Aircraft stands: 60 by 2010
Car park spaces: 3,800
Self service check-in kiosks: 96
Standard check-in desks: 54
Security lanes: 20
Bags processed per hour: 12,000
Lifts: 192
Escalators: 105
Retail units: 112

The first passengers are due to use the Terminal in a fortnight’s time. Let’s hope that my Northamptonshire airport taxi transfer service and Cambridgeshire airport taxi transfer service can benefit.

London - Sporting and Business Capital

I had some pretty happy Chelsea fans in the Viano last night. Chelsea have progressed to the quarter finals of the Champions League along with Manchester Utd and Arsenal. If Liverpool capitalise on their 2 goal advantage over Inter Milan next week that will leave all 4 Premier League clubs in the last 8.

I offer chauffeured travel services Bedfordshire and chauffeured travel services Northamptonshire and as such my work often involves taking migrant football fans down to the Capital to see their teams. Many people have moved out of London to the neighbouring counties but still maintain their allegiance to their football team.

In addition to visits to the Capitals football clubs I also find that my Northamptonshire Chauffeur Service and Buckinghamshire Chauffeur Service also takes me to the home of Rugby, Twickenham, and a number of other iconic sporting venues such as Wembley and Wimbledon.

My Business Travel Milton Keynes and Business Travel Northampton services also regularly take me into London. Again, businesses move out of London to reduce costs but still need to do business in and maintain a presence in one of the World’s largest commercial centres.
